These two lakes of northern Piedmont are usually referred to as some of the most romantic places in Italy. Spanning from Arona to the south and to Locarno (in Switzerland) to the north, and surrounded by the Alps Lake Maggiore is home to several attractions including the romantic Borromean Islands.
The most popular one is for sure Isola Bella, home to the Palace of the former Prince Borromeo and the most astonishing hanging garden in Italy listed among the most beautiful gardens on Earth.
Isola Pescatori (Fishermen Island), will show off the beauty of an old village gently embraced by the lake where your lunch will be served.
After lunch a short ride will take you to another valley where the astonishing view over Lake Orta and the astonishing medieval Abbey at the centre of the Island of San Giulio will open before your eyes. Get to the village of Orta and board for a short boat ride to visit the Island and its thereabouts.
