Casale Monferrato and the Holy Mount of Crea
Duration: 8 hours
Languages: IT, EN, DE, FR, ES

Located between the hills of Monferrato and the Po River, the city of Casale was the capital of the Marquisate  of Monferrato where important dynasties, such as the Aleramici, the Paleologi and the Gonzagas succeeded each other until it fell under the jurisdiction of the House of Savoy  in 1713.  The testimonies of this long and complex historical path are still legible today through its most important monuments such as the castle, the civic tower, also known as Santo Stefano, the magnificent cathedral of Sant’Evasio and the succession of noble palaces along Via Mameli, not to mention the Jewish ghetto which houses the most beautiful Italian synagogue.

An hour far from Turin, this excursion includes a guided tour of the historic center with a visit to the the cathedral and a stop at the historic shop where the world-famous “krumiri” biscuits were invented!

After the lunch break, we will reach the Monferrato hills where the Holy Mount Crea (protected by UNESCO) is found. The view from the hilltop embraces the the Alps as well as one of the most beautiful wine-growing landscapes in the heart of Monferrato,  whose value is recognized by Unesco also.
